Day old duckling are brooded in special insulated houses until they
are 28 days old. Temperature is carefully controlled by means of
special gas heaters to make life as comfortable as possible for these
delicate youngsters. They are fed a low density, additive and GM free
diet and receive a daily bedding of straw to keep them clean. An open
water trough is provided to slowly introduce them to the delights of swimming, but it is shallow enough to avoid accidents. At 28 days, when hardy
enough, they are moved to open straw barns. The diet here is again
completely additive and GM free and they are bedded up daily with
clean straw. An open water trough makes a good bathing pool where
feathers may be kept in top condition. |
